the Long Wang

The Chinese Dragon With The Funny Name!

We were a little soft on submissions last week for the Jabberwocky so I’m going lowest common denominator this week, with the king of the Chinese Dragons, the Long Wang, or if you’d like, the Lung Wang, (but that’s not nearly as funny).

I’m going to steal the description straight from my “Giant Monsters & Dragons” book, cause from what I can tell from the interweb, it’s kind of wrong but it gives us a helluva lot more options to draw, than just a serpent holding a pearl. So quoted directly:
“The Lung Wang is the Dragon King, who is also known as the Fire Dragon. Lung Wang may be represented as a oriental dragon, but at other times it may be represented as a human body with the head of a dragon and horns resembling those of a stag. Other depictions show him with a fish’s body with teh legs of a tiger and a dragon’s head. He is controller of the water, seas, the lakes and other inland waterways where he is responsible for storms and waterspouts…”

judgement Is Complete

our judgeOur Judge this week was Mr James Ewert! Mr Ewert came in as an intern at PB towards the end and impressed us all with eagerness, actual writing talent and a healthy dose of those magical self destructive tendencies that a grizzled veteran like myself can only watch, remember and laugh! here’s what he wrote for his bio so you get my point:
Some people call me the space cowboy. Some call me the gangster of love. Some people call me Maurice. Because I speak of the pompetous of love. People talk about me baby. Say I’m doin’ you wrong, doin’ you wrong. But don’t you worry baby don’t worry. Cause’ I’m right here at home. Cause’ I’m a picker. I’m a grinner. I’m a lover. And I’m a sinner. Playin’ my music in the sun. I’m a joker. I’m a smoker. I’m a mid-night toker. I get my lovin’ on the run.

Anyways he’s a great kid with some honest to goodness writing chops check him out at and I’d like to personally thank him for not putting #5 in the top slot ; )
