Back to the Yokai of Japan!
Dodomeki start off as human girls, bad girls mind you… but humans nonetheless. And like most humans, they face multiple morality shaping decisions and somewhere around “taking other people’s sh*t”, they made a wrong turn. Eventually, there grows a want in these ladies that can only be sated with the thrill of stealing. As this want poisons their being, it eventually corrupts their appearance and here’s what you’re left with
- At it’s core it starts as a human girl
- Has grown excessively long arms
- Said long arms are covered in 100s of birds eyes
- Some tellings have it faceless
- Some tellings have cloaked
- It’s Japanse
- steals sh*t
Sure having “long arms” in Japan is synonymous with a tendency towards kleptomania, and birds eyes are slang for a certain dougnut shaped coin. Go hyper realistic if you must, just draw us something vaguely Japanse, give it some long ass arms and cover those bastards in eyeholes! Most of all, have fun scrawling it on something you can take a picture of, send that sh*t in! Then we’ll enjoy em and throw a shirt at our favorite!

Here’s what Judge Susan said: This one is so haunting. Beautiful rendering of a spooky, lonely being. The colors and shading on this dodomeki are eerie. And, the way she beckons us with the one eyeball-filled arm and piercing, sad eyes…perfection. I’ll be in touch about your shirt soon and thanks to all who drew!
