Here Fishy Fishy!
We got a request and it’s been a while since we’ve done anything Lovecraftian, plus my friend suggested this like 3 years ago! So here’s what we’re working! (and yes I am treating this story like a straight up myth so deal with it!)
So …Innsmouth is a town in New England, (you know, where folks have messy hair, fisherman abound, they say words weird and everyone looks a lil like they’re chewing on an invisible toothpick)… the folks in this town happened a race of forever old and powerful fishpeople living off their coast… and while I’m jumping a whole lotta steps here, they made a deal with these fish people (aka the Deep Ones) that basically said… we’ll feed you human sacrifices and let you make all sorts of hybrid babies with our women folk so you can also rule the land… but do us a favor and leave us plentiful fish in our nets…
Now potentially not the best deal but a card laid blah blah… so jump ahead a few generations what you end up with is a town full of hybrid fish folks who as they age begin to acquire the Innsmouth look…
- the ears shrink
- the eyes bulge and become unblinking
- the head narrows and gradually goes bald
- the skin becomes scabrous as it changes into scales
- the neck develops folds which later become gills
- Eventually, the hybrid will be compelled to slip into the sea to live with the Deep Ones
So there you have it! Draw us some half human fish people, make em frolic, make em drunk n sad, just make sure they say chowda, wear wool sweaters and know how to sail like a boss! I’ve got too many shirts and you’ve got two weeks (by morning of the 23rd)… Go!
