So First things first I know a lot of us will be traveling to and fro and BBqing and such next weekend so we are extending this one long. Don’t worry I just printed mugs that say “weekly” it’ll be back to weekly next battle. So the official due date for submissions will be Friday June 1st at noon CST.
Now to the fun part! Gol-Goroth comes to us by way of the great Cthulhu Mythos where he was known as The Forgotten Old One, or God of the Black Stone… he popped up in at least 5 stories and I’m pretty sure a Sword song or two, but magically he was never really described in what you would call detail…  so he is either, a gigantic, black, toad-like creature with an impossibly malevolent glare (i love that part)…  Or a tentacled, scaled, bat-winged entity.  So you can’t say I didn’t give you room to play. And  for the “Holiday” bit, by no means is it required, but I wanted to see if a few more descriptors got more folks drawing…. So Hawaiian shirts, fishing poles, discotheques, or just some quality “me” time… they’re all in play cause I certainly don’t know where an Old One goes to relax but i bet its funny.

Awww he's like a little chippendales Satyr! Such a powerful belly with such teeny little man-boobs, and not sure if any of you have tried the old tough guy cigar chew but it's a hell of a lot harder than it looks to pull off without drooling.

The Satyr is the hybrid representative of humanity. His grotesqueness is palpable in a way that our own cannot be. : ) I'm not even sure i know what that means but goddamn is that a great hand! and that rump, talk about palpable!

The Human Quadrupede Wow, so I was totally in awe of the giant "phallus as leg" then I looked again and it's just a cool ass leg, that's tricky! I love this dudes ho humness about it all. And another nice rump!

Aaaaah! I'm not entirely sure but its possible you have to go to jail now... Man is that creepy... or is it chickeny... Regardless it's entertaining and so nicely and weirdly off balance.

Clever clever with the "Satyr in a Box". By far the happiest Satyr we've seen (who's not hump crazed)... those legs are amazing, and I love that singular note! And as the artist says, He's trying ta wink, trying ta .

Ha! I think its the vest that gets me, or maybe the vest, chickenfoot, cutoff combo... regardless he's making me laugh. And I sort of wish he was coming over cause I could use a donut, ferocious Satyr face or not.

Our buddy Ken has a remarkably masculine jaw, the kind of chin that makes the protagonist on the cover of a 1980′s choose your own adventure tremble with jealousy… but we also like it, because to draw it, all you really need to do is draw an upside down corn kernel. Here he is crossed with a mythical sea beast.

Possibly the most attractive character rendering we ever had, i mean look at those fishy pecs!

And perhaps this is what happens when Ken juices with fish based steroids? That left arm is freaking huge! Good funny tiny legs too.

I think this is still my favorite form of entry, simple joyful and true... keep in mind it takes a hell-of-a lot of love to make heart thoughts appear underwater.

I had probably just watched 300 when we did this one, seems i was all into fancy flowy water hair... I do sorta wish he had that fish tattoo though.

Here's what happens when the Mer-Ken from entry 2 gets smart and crops his legs out of frame to seem even more powerful! Though I'm calling that even super juiced he wouldn't be that angry.

One part human centipede and one part our cohort Randy! Always personable, incredibly polite, looks a wee bit like Mr Rogers and responsible for easily 40% of my favorite submissions in the old days. It’s possible he deserved something a bit nicer than this, but hey, it is war!

Seriously how cool is it that he has that many hands and just two little teeny feet at the end of that Randy train... I bet he could fly if he really tried.

Another one I only sort of recall the reasoning behind... I believe this is based off the movie poster, and i just kinda of like it for the creepy factor.

Still trying to decide if these guys are able to swing their arms happily in unison or if they have to keep less joyous stride now that they are joined. I do know the turkey leg was a Ren Faire reference.

Funny how two of us came up with essentially the exact same idea, only this one was cut out and like 4 feet long!

That's supposed to be me all stitched to his butt... no idea why he is dressed in such fine fancy lad attire though...

So i first remember hearing about this guy on an episode of Destination Truth… or target=”_blank”>MonsterQuest… one of those shows a guy like me watches religiously… It seems in the early 2000s, the city of New Delhi was plagued with reports of assaults from a small (4 ft) monkey like creature. Reports varied , but one description has the beast covered in dark fur, the face of an ape, wearing a silver helmet, shining red eyes, boasting metallic claws and oddly, three buttons on his chest. The other description sounds a bit like a Monkey Man Mummy, where he still sports the same headgear but is covered from head to toes (assuming he has toes) in bandages or a dark wrap of some sort. Victims claimed to be scratched, hit or otherwise mauled and a few victims even died plummeting from rooftops as they ran in fear of the beast. The reports built and reaction became so fevered that the New Delhi police actually commissioned a sketch of the beast and it can (and should, cause it’s great) be seen on wikipedia here.  Now let’s see what you’ve got in that collective creative consciousness of yours!

AAAAAH! Too Close Too Close! ha... Sweet sweet crayon making a comeback, adding a nice broken psyche dimension to his giant eyes and bravo to the return of the bike/safety hat!

Pretty funny how suspicious this dude looks, from nothing more than a shifty glance and some subtle hand motion. Bow ties are always welcomed and those are definitely great space feet!

An interesting take... A Monkey Man made in City of Heros' character creator, not sure that I want to encourage this too much but kind of fun and at least we get the flaming action shot!

Coming from the American Southwest comes Cactus Cat! Larger than your average house cat meow, covered with thorn like hair meow, has sharp bones on its front legs meow, and a branched spiky tail and small horn-like ridges behind the ears meow.

The cactus cat survives by eating the sap of common cacti found in the deserts where it lives. Unfortunately for the cactus cat, this sap ferments and intoxicates the cat. The cat will then stumble off drunkenly through the desert in an alcoholic haze.

Cowboys and other frontiersmen reported hearing the cactus cat at night, wailing in the darkness, and occasionally rasping its bony arms together. If the stories are to be believed, a cactus cat would even occasionally attack humans, drunkenly screaming into campsites and causing much mayhem!

Man such a welcoming palette for what I'm sure is a very unwelcoming land! Cactus Thunder is pretty fantastic, as are those shimmering heat rays round the sun.

Judges Commentary - This drawing most accurately matches what I see in my head when I say the words "cactus cat." Or at least it will from now on. If this were a real plant, you know lawns across all social spheres would be littered with them. And hopefully there would be a fun little office variety that you could put on your desk at work.

Oooh I'm calling best haunches we've seen thus far... though for a second i did think the front paws were balls... but such nicely delineated spike rows and the beautiful tongue of a beast not burdened with complexities.

Judges Commentary - I'm picking this one because it will haunt me at night for the rest of my life. The image of tiny little cacti for teeth will undoubtedly be the subject of several nightmares. Just now my entire body shuddered as I imagined what they might feel like grinding together, those little cacti choppers, if I tried to chew through a taco. Or some saltwater taffy.

Since we're talking ratios, this one's got by far the highest cacti to cat ratio by far. and i swear, startled me a little when i opened it, and that's kinda fun!

Our first ever Friday evening entry! And he came with his own caption - "So much work for one old fashion cactail" First off, Cactail is funny as hell and second I'm hoping this guy knows to toss his first runnings, cause that looks delicious!

This guy came with his own character sheet! Play this right my friend and I'll be watching Cactus Cat on SyFy Saturday in a few months! - "Half horny toad, half mountain lion, the cactus cat's long barbed tongue is used to pierce the cacti it feeds upon from a distance, as to not be pricked by the plant's thorns. It then sucks the juices up through the hollow center of the organ."

He just wants to snuggle! You're so long mr Cactus Cat, and sooo adorable. The pleasure bubbles are also much appreciated!

Oh sweet waxy crayon, I can smell you right through this monitor! I like that this one has taken only the cuteness from the cactus side of the family and left the prickly for number 3!

Pretty funny how a single entry can be both the most innocent and the most perverse. I mean those are some adorable cuddly cats sharing a sip, but that is one hell of a phallic cactus they are nursing from! Nicely played.

Yes! I love when they have that great fantasy art muscularity! Great level of hidden sh*t in the antlers, and he's got a giant, possibly moss laden, axe! Who doesn't love that?!

Once again blown away by the number of lines laid down! This one's intense! Like the Cthulhu of Snawfusessess.... Snawfus he dreams, he waits!!! And i love the little Sendak-esque sailboat in the corner.

Awww! Titled "The Little Snawfus that Could"... The wrestling fans among us will recognize this as a classic babyface... the only way he can do it is if we all get behind him... snawfus..snawfus..Snawfus..SNAWFUS! SNAWFUS!!
