Vermont’s Pig Man Entry # 3

Vermont’s Pig Man Entry # 3

Those is some serious, serious, chompers for a pig whether it be a hollowed out horror skull or no! Thats such a great icon for “taking out eyes”! Also I kinda love the “no pigs” shirt with piggy faced padding on its shoulders

The Bunyip Entry # 2

The Bunyip Entry # 2

Like the sensitive Bowie of bunyips! I mean he (or she) is literally fantasizing about death while in a pool it! That’s dark! And there’s something magical about the balance of the down turned alien grabbyhands and the royal cocks feather-like display of it’s horsetail!

The Bean Nighe Entry # 6

The Bean Nighe Entry # 6

Look at the thoughtful forearm placement! Not sure if its the negative space, the giant eyes or the straight legged sitting posture but this one takes me on a little emotional roller coaster… at first glance it seems prettily somber, almost leaning on sad, but then you dig into those playful toes and fingers and you gotta smile… nicely played!

The Mummy Entry # 8

The Mummy Entry # 8

Man! the Australian youth pulling out some good creepy fun mummies this week! Such a good piercing, glowing stare, fantastic off kilter walking corpse stance and great visual anchor to tie it together with those golden feets!

The Ogre Vs The Pukwudgie Entry # 12

The Ogre Vs The Pukwudgie Entry # 12

Did that ogre just eat all of a beaver short of its tail? And I wonder what kind of magical ogre hallucinogens he’s on to be aware the pukwudgie is there behind him while he stares deep into the depths of his own soul! I mean maybe the pukwudgie is really just him???

The Kappa Entry # 11

The Kappa Entry # 11

This one’s so hot it’s got grill marks! Ha! Seriously though, don’t eat turtles! They’re the closest thing to lizard people we have!

The Feral Children Entry # 3

The Feral Children Entry # 3

I’m betting this one was raised by a Picasso print, a deck of playing cards and a shop vac! I’m sorta assuming the arrow is a representation of a spear, but I’m a fan of the idea of a devil tail randomly growing from her palm as well!

The Flying Heads Entry # 4

The Flying Head Entry # 4

Now I get being aware of that one on the right as he looks shifty as hell, but that one on the left just looks like a pretty straight laced flying skull, guilt by association is my guess!

the Pig-Faced Women Entry # 2

the Pig-Faced Women Entry # 2

Pig-faced Wendy? … Yes Pig-Faced Lisa?… Is the green water warm enough?… Yes Pig-Faced Lisa… Shall we begin?…Yes Pig-Faced Lisa…

The Sea Goat Entry # 6

The Sea Goat Entry # 6

So to absolutely change the song in your head…. you can totally sing “Sea Zebra” to the melody of “Dream Weaver”, enjoy that for the rest of forever! … I like how freaking excited that lil crab seems to be and that’s quite the magnificent tail!

Judge’s Commentary
#6 – By far the number one entry for the artists under 10 years old category. Makes me want to watch Disney’s “Little Mermaid” – crab and all.

The Baba Yaga Entry #2

The Baba Yaga Entry #2

It’s funny how much more weight the floating blood drops give to the piece, that eye is amazing, in my opinion you can never have enough patchwork witches hut and you know those arms just want to hug!

Tauret Entry # 3

Tauret Entry # 3

We’ve got another young’n a playing! It’s funny with what seemed to be reflecting breasts, it took me a second to grasp what exactly was happening there at the bottom but its pretty obviously a Tauret happily assisting with a birth… and while I will probably never have to deal with this situation from that perspective, I like to think while perhaps not the responsible choice, a smiling hippo in a headdress would be a hell of a lot more fun than a masked up doctor in scrubs…
